This recipe can be modified to add semi-sweet chocolate chips or various types of nuts, seeds and dried fruits. I also add a bit more cinnamon than I have indicated here, because it’s my favorite spice. You can add more of the maple syrup or dried fruit if you want yours to be sweeter. For me, adding more cinnamon makes it taste sweeter without actually adding that food demon, sugar. So, try it, modify it and give me your feedback. I am hoping that after you try this recipe, you won’t be buying any pre-packaged granola again, it’s THAT good!
2 cups Old Fashioned Oats
1/2 cup golden raisins
1/2 cup dried cherries or cranberries
1/2 cup sliced almonds
1/2 cup coconut flakes (raw)
1/2 sunflower seeds (raw)
1/2 cup pumpkin seeds (raw)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground clove (optional)
1/4 cup maple syrup (use the real stuff - DO NOT put that fake junk in your body!)
1/4 cup olive oil or healthy oil of choice
1/2 teaspoon vanilla (optional)
Mix all of the dry ingredients first in a large bowl and then add the wet ingredients. Spread onto a lined cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees. After 15 minutes, give the mixture a stir and bake another 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool and enjoy!
